Platinum Service

Platinum Service £165 plus parts

We recommend our PlatinumService is carried out every 12-18 months and more regularly if you are a heavy user or want to keep your cycle in the very best condition.

This service is a full strip down ofyour cycle until we have the frame, forks, drive train and wheels apart. We will inspect each part for wear and where necessary we will change the parts for new ones. We don't change parts if there is still a reasonable amount of riding left in them but we will advise you to change a part if in our opinion it cant be saved or it will need changing in a short time.

You can expect a Platinum Service will include replacing minor service parts such as wheel bearings, cones, headset bearing, chains, cables, outers and brake pads. If your cycle has had a hard life you might also expect to change more expensive items such as cassettes and bottom bracket bearings at this service interval.

We leave no stone unturned at this level of service and you can expect to get your bicycle back riding as good as new.

We'd like it if your bike was fairly clean when you brought it in as it is a drag having to chip away mud and grease before we start work, but it's not essential. If your bicycle is particularly heavily soiled we may charge a supplementary valet fee!

Hydraulic Brakes

Hydraulic brake bleed is not included in the price of a Platinum Service. Re-setting the brakes and fitting pads will be included but a full bleed is an additional £25 per brake.

Internal Cables

Running of internal cables may attract a supplementary charge.

Bar Tape

A Platinum service to a road bike is always finished off well if we fit a new bar tape. It gives the bike a fresh new look. We will fit a new bar tape to your cycle if you wish and of course the labour is covered under the service price. You just pay for the tape. Just let us know.

Hydraulic Brakes

Bleeding hydraulic brakes is not covered under any of our set service plans. A charge of £25 per brake is applicable if a bleed is necessary.

What do we do under our Platinum Service

Frame and Forks - cleaned, inspected, checked for alignment/damage.

Wheels - tyres, spokes, hubs and rims checked for damage. Hubs are disassembled, internals inspected and parts replaced as necessary. Wheels are then re-trued laterally to exacting standards. Specialist wheels may incur a supplementary charge for truing.

Headset - Disassembled, internals inspected and replaced as necessary. Frame faced as necessary if new headset is being installed.

Bottom Bracket - Disassembled, threads chased, frame faced as necessary and bearings replaced if required.

Drive Train - Chainset, front and rear derailleur, chain and cassette are removed and inspected. Where they can still be used each part visits our bio-remediating washer and all parts are deep cleaned.

Brakes - brake callipers are removed, inspected and cleaned thoroughly.

Fixings - All parts including new cables, outers and fixings are fitted, set up and  tightened to correct torque settings as the service is progressed.

Seized Parts - We can find items such as seatposts, bottom brackets or quill stems are seized in place. If we find a part is firmly held in place we will not automatically try to move it. Where operation is not compromised we will leave it in situ. Seized parts can often be freed but the effort can be intensive and may require significant extra labour costs.  Freeing a seized part is not included in the cost of any of our standard services.

Finally - We run through the cycle with a torque wrench to ensure all fixings are tight and the cycle passes a final safety inspection. We lastly test ride your cycle to check that it's running properly and that we're happy to let it go.

Suspension Cycles.

We don't strip down and service any suspension parts in-house but can swap suspension couplings and bearings as required however this is an additional service and is not covered by the Platinum Service. Additional service charges will apply. If you do require suspension fork or shock service we will arrange for their service through an authorised specialist service centre. Unfortunately there will be a service charge levied by the service centre and shipping charges will also be charged.

As always parts are additional and are not included in our service charges. We will always list any parts used on your bill and our work and parts are guaranteed.
